Zelda Microgames in Smooth Moves

Thursday 30th November

A fresh batch of Wario Ware Smooth Move videos have been posted at YouTube.

This first one is incredible, showing some of the games in the traditional “Nintendo” selection, with one where you control Link as he takes the Master Sword out of its pedestal in Ocarina of Time. Even more impressive is the Boss Stage - a new level using the Starwing engine, with a end-baddie who’ll bring a fat smile to your face.

There are three other videos to check out if you’re interested on how the game’s shaping up.

Iwata Asks Part 9

Saturday 25th November

Yup, it’s up. You can check it out here. It’s quite interesting on how Miyamoto jokes, “We could probably make five other new games if we didn’t have Zelda.” If you think about that, it makes a lot of sense. Especially considering how expansive TP is. Hyrule itself is very large. Also, the game on average should take any where from 50-70 hours. It’s obvious that Nintendo has put a lot of work into making this game. But what ever happened to Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hour Glass? Did everyone forget about that title besides me? I’m wondering if the DS Zelda will live up to the fun and exciting Wii Zelda. Anyway, enjoy the read.

GameTrailers Zelda Retrospective Part 6

Tuesday 21st November

Over at GameTrailers, you can watch the final part in their Zelda Retrospective series. Die-hards will be smacking their head against the table - the dual-timeline theory is used, The Minish Cap is apparently chronologically first, and OoT Link went on to have adventures in MM (ok), LA (hmm), and LoZ (agh!). They also muse that the two Oracle games were mirror adventures, one taking place at the end of each timeline, despite the fact that they directly follow from one another. Still, it’s fairly interesting all the same, and worth checking out if only to reinvigorate your long-dry timeline juices.

Happy Birthday, Shiggy!

Wednesday 15th November

Tomorrow, will be the 55th birthday of our favorite Nintendo game designer, Shigeru Miyamoto, born November 16, 1952. As many of you know, this man has basically built the Nintendo empire with his own two hands. Games that everyone know. Donkey Kong, Mario, Star Fox, Legend of Zelda. This man is a legend among gaming figures of the industry. With out him, we wouldn’t know the Nintendo that we know it as today. They could still be selling their Hanafuda cards or toys that they use to make eons ago in 1889. (Yup, Nintendo was around back then. Crazy huh?) With out Miyamoto we wouldn’t see the type of gaming market that thrives today.

Starting off by programming a simple yet extremely fun and addicting arcade game, Donkey Kong, Miyamoto was soon off to stardom. His famous games have been played around the word. No matter if you’re a Sony fan, Xbox fan, or a Nintendo fan, we all have a credit due to this wonderful man. I mean, who doesn’t know about hit titles such as the Mario franchise, or Star Fox? Come on, Zelda? The best gaming series of all time, of course! With out his creative and innovative qualities that he brings to Nintendo, we wouldn’t see such great games that were created in the past.

So, hope you have a great 55th, Miyamoto.

Twilight Princess Manual Pictures

Tuesday 14th November

For all of you who enjoy spoiling that great moment when you tear off the plastic from your brand new Twilight Princess box to read up on all what Nintendo has to say, then today is your day. The Hylia has 7 pictures straight from the manual itself. With the US Wii release in a matter of days, can’t we all wait? I really don’t want to read the silly control options and intro on a computer screen, and yet I’m drawn to it. Something about placing my face two inches from the screen just to get a glimpse from the manual seems just silly to me. But why not right? I must say, the manual looks very sharp. I hope that that will be a sign to how amazing the game will be. It’s too bad they only put 7 pictures up. But then again I wouldn’t want too much spoiled myself. One of the manual pictures they have taken shows some of the moves that you will be able to perform with the Wii controller. Unfortunately it looks like two basic sword attacks, z-targeting. You know, the regular stuff. So no real looks into the games combo moves.

Anyway, if you’re the type of person like myself, that finds joy into reading every page of a new game that you purchase before you play the real thing, then I’d stay away. Although not too much is spoiled from the 7 pictures. The manual does look great though, so why not take a peak?

Happy spoiling!
