Phantom Hourglass Packaging

Saturday 30th June

Phantom Hourglass - Packaging

I received my copy of Phantom Hourglass this morning, courtesy of Play-Asia. I’ll be playing it all this weekend and I’ll report back next week with some detailed impressions. Until then, enjoy these high-res scans of the game’s packaging.

Ocarina of Time Medley in SSB:Brawl!

Tuesday 26th June

The Smash Bros. DOJO!! has been updated with a jaw-dropping Ocarina of Time medley that will be used in one of the game’s stages. You know that any BG music that incorporates Song of Storms and makes the Lost Woods music sound so epic is going to be legendary. The announcement of this composition also allows us to make an educated guess that the Zelda-themed stage will be based on a locale(s) from the Greatest Game of All-Time rather than Twilight Princess.

Zelda Returns in Smash Bros. Brawl

Monday 25th June

The official Super Smash Bros. Brawl website has announced the first new character in the game since its E3 unveiling last year. While few details are given, we are treated to Zelda’s brand new look. She looks even better than in Twilight Princess. No word on whether she has retained the ability to transform into Sheik, though with the memory of Ocarina of Time becoming just that after ten years, it would seem unlikely. To make up for this, here’s a picture of Zelda and Zero Suit Samus in a cat fight:

Tingle’s Balloon Fight

Sunday 24th June

Tingle’s Balloon Fight

On the off chance that you’ve grown tired of all the Phantom Hourglass coverage that’s blitzing the internet at the moment, we’ve decided to take this oppertunity to create a page for the most obscure Zelda spin-off yet. While it will be old news to most of you, we’ve created the definitive Tingle’s Balloon Fight page, or as definitive as the current state of Nintendo DS emulation will allow. I expect once hackers free Tingle from the confines of the upper-left corner, we’ll be able to show you some action shots from the game. Still, you can see that for a freebie, Nintendo used a surprising amount of the ol’ spit-polish to get this one sparkling.

If all this Tingle-lovin-lovin has left you groaning, Play-Asia have crossed their heart that they’ll dispatch a copy of Phantom Hourglass on the day commonly known as tomorrow, which means I should be cutting swathes through moon-language and Octoroks this time next week. I’ll be sure to tell you all about it using letters and words and pictures and hyperlinks and stuff.

Phantom Hourglass Packaging

Thursday 21st June

Phantom Hourglass - Packaging

To celebrate Friday’s Japanese release of Phantom Hourglass, I’ve created a packaging gallery that shows off its delectable front cover. Does anyone make boxart like the Japanese?

Official Japanese Phantom Hourglass Site

Thursday 14th June

Japanese Phantom Hourglass Site

The official site for Japan is now up. Phantom Hourglass comes out in Japan the 23rd of this month. The site has a lot of cool in game videos that show you the mechanics of how the game works. I’d recommend checking those out because they are pretty awesome. Using the stylus to control attacks looks really fun! Also the graphics look amazing from the videos and all of the other screen shots we have seen thus far. I love how they mixed Wind Waker style graphics along with the top down 2D-ish style camera view that Legend of Zelda use to be in.

But enjoy the site because unless you live in Japan or can read Japanese, you won’t be playing this game for several months. :(
