I’m not liking this whole going to update the site but seeing that it’s already been done thing =(
|

She looks a lot like the Fairy from Mother and Child Island in Wind Waker.
|
| - Friday 5th June 01:14 pm |
NM, that’s the first thing I thought when I saw it as well. I don’t see how people thought she was wearing a hat and that it was Zelda?
Definitely want to see more of this stuff! I wonder if she’s your partner in the game or some other role?

Alright, well actually a lot of people are saying that this girl is some form of the Master Sword. Taking in Link’s lack of sword in the picture, and the design of the girl as a whole, it’s extremely plausible at this point. The design of her leggings is the same as the grips on the hilt of the Master Sword, and her skirt is a similar structure to the wings coming off from the hand guard of the sword. The jewel on her shirt should also be taken into consideration. All of them are key design points on the Master Sword.

At the closed door meeting Miyamoto supposedly made a point to mention that Link was not holding a sword. That seems to confirm that the girl is indeed the MS. However, even if she is, Link will definitely still sword fight in the game. Especially since he talked heavily about swordplay options for the game possibly using the new Wii Motion Plus (depending on the sales of Wii Resort).
Also, The more I look at it, the more this Link really resembles the OoT Link. he has blue eyes, the same earrings, and (I know its a weird angle to see this) his hair does seem parted down the middle (ala OoT) instead of swept across like TP.
This could very well be a sequel to OoT. After hearing the fans rave about wanting a better version of OoT for years (and having TP’s realistic style not be enough to satisfy this) they might have intentionally made this a sequel.
|
| - Friday 5th June 02:59 pm |
I kind of agree with what you’re saying Derek but I don’t see how they could fit another OoT sequel into the timeline. I know we know nothing really concrete about the timeline, but it still seems rather improbable that it’s a sequel in my opinion.
|
| - Friday 5th June 03:27 pm |
I’m not sure how they will fit it into the timeline. But the more I look at it, he seems more like the OoT Link than the Tp Link.
But I’m guessing that the MS girl will be able to change back and forth from sword to girl (kinda taking the place of Midna’s function in TP).
So I don’t know, the suggested gameplay and style lean towards TP, but the look of Link seems to lean toward Oot. Maybe its just me.

I see where you’re coming from on the style of the characters, I just don’t think it’s a direct connection. It may very well be connect to it somehow. Maybe a prequel? Something in between MC and OoT?
It makes sense that she’ll be you sword as well as your support character. It’s not the first time Zelda has had talking items (for some reason the only one I can think of is the boomerang from TP but I know there’s more than that).
|
| - Friday 5th June 06:21 pm |
Yeah, I saw that. It looks incredible. You know if someone’s made a wallpaper out of it yet? I want one BAAD.
This art makes me think OoT with TP graphics… that MS girl is certainly interesting. *sigh* guess we’ll still be waiting until later for more info… I’d do more discussion but it’s all pretty much been covered by you guys.
Oh, and CorvosKK… You forgot Lazlo.
|
| - Friday 5th June 07:38 pm |
Wow, my last post was full of typos, sorry about that guys.
And Lazlo? Do you mean Ezlo, the hat from MC? If not, then I’m not sure who you’re talking about.
|
| - Friday 5th June 07:43 pm |
Heh Espy….IT’S ALL ABOUT TEAMWORK MY FRIEND. :]
|
| - Friday 5th June 08:59 pm |
Why is right handed Link such a big deal after TP? The real reason everyone hated it in TP was because EVERYTHING was flipped, thus contradicting with the story/geography because areas were in the wrong spot (i.e. Gerudo Desert in East instead of West.)
But if this is built from the ground up for the Wii then everything should be fine because there will be no flipping.
|
| - Friday 5th June 09:05 pm |
Lol I was gonna say Ezlo, but you said “Lazlo.” No, just no. CAMP EZLO LOLLER that would suck in Zelda. RAJ, CLAM.
|
| - Friday 5th June 10:01 pm |
i meant Ezlo. What can I say, it’s been at least a year since I touched MC.
And I was irritated by the whole right handed-Link thing in general. I play my Wii left-handed, it confused the hell out of me.

| - Friday 5th June 10:27 pm |
They shouldn’t have flipped the game. It would have been an easy fix, just at the beginning ask what hand is more dominate and just flip Link’s character model.
|
| - Friday 5th June 10:36 pm |
Didn’t we go through this LTW? If only Link’s character model was flipped, he wouldn’t open a door correctly (he’d grab where he “thought” the knob would be), amongst other things of which I have forgotten.
|
| - Friday 5th June 11:35 pm |
That wouldn’t be that hard either, just flip the doors then. And in any case, why would it matter what hand he used to open doors? So does that mean people who are left handed only open doors with left hands? Switching sword hands wouldn’t really break the game in the sense or doors. It would still open the same door with the same hand no matter what.

“In the sense of doors”
We need an edit system for these comments on the front page =P
|
| - Saturday 6th June 12:17 am |
Ask Espy about it.
|
| - Saturday 6th June 12:34 am |
I kind of agree about the hands thing, but at the same time, as much of a rabid Zelda fan as I am, I really could care less what his dominant hand is. I know that the original character is left handed. End of story for me. The developers have their way of doing things for certain reasons and I trust them with it.

| - Saturday 6th June 12:39 am |
Everyone was all like: “NINTENDO DOESN’T LOVE/CONSIDER/CARE ABOUT THE LEFTIES!!!”
Little do they know Shigsy himself is lefty. Or was it another lead developer of Zelda Games?
|
| - Saturday 6th June 12:41 am |
NVM Shigeru Miyamoto IS a lefty. I was right. (SHIT AN INVOLUNTARY PUN)
|
| - Saturday 6th June 01:38 am |
I don’t care as far as canon, though that’s my excuse when people ask me. There’s like 4 Links (or is it 5 now?), so it doesn’t really make a difference that one’s a righty. For the record, TP Link’s a lefty, proven by the fact that everything was flipped. GCN one’s the accurate one. This Wii Link may end up being a righty. Hey, I know, let’s make Link ambidextrous!!! If he can kill a giant pig-beast with Godlike powers, he can learn to use another hand.
But it DID confuse the Hell out of me. I can play most other games with the Wii-mote in my left hand; that one, it just screwed everything up. Seriously, try playing it that way, it’s confusing. Not to mention the whole East-West thing.
I would love if they’d do a lefty and a righty one.

Noah’s Mask…why would I ask Espy about a comment system? You obviously don’t know your staff members positions too well…
|
| - Saturday 6th June 02:46 am |
What? Ask him about the right handed Link flipping for Wii, why it HAD to be done.
|
| - Saturday 6th June 02:47 am |
BTW you’re both moderators right?
|
| - Saturday 6th June 04:47 am |
It sounded like you were talking about my comment where I said we need to fix the comments on the first page. If you’re talking about something you have to specify =P
|
| - Saturday 6th June 12:15 pm |
back on topic of the article: if its a sequel to OoT, quest to find Navi anyone?
|
| - Saturday 6th June 01:49 pm |
NM: Oh yeah, we’re both mods. But we’re also both news writers.
And I doubt this will be an OoT sequel. They’ve already made one, Majora’s Mask. Anyway like I said in the thread on our forums, they need to get away from OoT.
|
| - Saturday 6th June 02:15 pm |
LTW: =p sorry about that I meant ask Espy about the right handed Link flipping for Wii, why it HAD to be done.
But this time it will be built from the ground up for the Wii, so we don’t have to worry about flipping.
Lockman: Majora’s Mask WAS a quest to find Navi, although she was never found. Link is trapped in Termina anyway, right? He may have gotten out actually, but whatever.
MAYBE SPIRIT TRACKS SHOULD BE A SEQUEL TO OOT.
“Yeah, I didn’t think so. So as LTW said: they need to get away from OoT.”
Although maybe it would be kind of cool.
|
| - Saturday 6th June 02:35 pm |
That’s also interesting….we haven’t really heard much about Spirit Tracks. Like, why is there a train in a game that almost never has any sort of new age technology? That’s really concerning me…but like I said I’ll probably pick it up anyway.
|
| - Saturday 6th June 03:12 pm |
At E3 they mentioned that Spirit Tracks will take place 100 years after Phantom Hourglass and that this Link will be an apprentice engineer. It sounds to me like they just wanted another version of the Red Lions boat but for land. A train was a logical choice.
Oh, and in a new interview with Miyamoto he was quoted as saying that this new Wii Zelda takes place in a completely different era than TP.
I just hope the overall gameplay is better than TP. Sure there were some great items/features, but the game was way too linear. Plus the side missions weren’t very interesting. I’m really hoping this new one will be the perfect blend of the advanced graphic direction of TP and everything that made OoT so great.
|
| - Saturday 6th June 03:30 pm |
The older games had mine carts.
|
| - Saturday 6th June 04:29 pm |
Yeah, he’s always either an apprentice of something or just a simple ranch boy. Him being an engineer’s apprentice isn’t much of a stretch.
I agree completely that they need to get away from OoT. Yeah, it was great, but get to some new stuff. Personally, for the Wii one, I would love to see some more open world features like the original one had.
|
| - Saturday 6th June 05:14 pm |
I agree, they do need to get away from OoT. but they need to get that gameplay back. All the new Zelda titles are either too easy, too straightforward, or too flat, depending on the game title.
btw, OneManga has a new update for the PH manga.

>suggesting this game will be an OoT sequel
