Primer

There’s a building in southern Castle Town along the lower side street known as Agatha’s Castle. If you’re lost, look for the guy standing outside of it proclaiming it as such…or, you know, the sign.

Inside, you may speak with Agitha to find out that she’s invited all the Golden Bugs of the land to a ball, but so far none of them have responded. You’re job is to find them and bring them to the festivities.

When you return the first bug to Agitha, she’ll give you a Big Wallet, which allows you to carry 600 rupees. For each successive bug you bring her way, you’ll get at least 50 rupees.

If you return one that makes a pair with one you’ve already delivered (ie a male Ant to match your female Ant), you’ll get 100 rupees. Once you return all 24 you receive the Giant Wallet, which holds 1,000 rupees.

Tips

  • Golden Bugs emit a sort of chiming sound you can listen for while charging around the fields. It grows louder as you get closer, making it a tad easier to home in on them. Unless you’re TV doesn’t have the best of speakers, in which case you may need to rely on the more visual clues listed below.
  • They have a glow about them, which makes them somewhat easy to see from far off. However, being bugs, they’re rather small. Easier to spot if you listen for the chime before hunting around.
  • They can be glimpsed from farther away at night, as they retain their glowing nature whilst sleeping.
  • Wolf senses are even better. Link’s nose seems to be able to pick out the glowing insects well beyond the normal range of the senses. That small bright spot in the distant blackness is most likely a Golden Bug.
  • They tend to sleep at night. Some of these little guys are rather mobile, and it can be easier to find them once they decide to slumber.
  • If they’re too high up to reach (ie on a cliff or tree, or flying over some water)
  • you can use the Clawshot or Gale Boomerang to draw them near.
