CALATIA

Inhabitants: Hylian

Calatia is a kingdom west of Hyrule inhabited solely by Hylians. It's accessible only through paths in the Death Mountain Range, or via Saria River.

Arn, of the Hero's bloodline, and his wife Medilia, raised a young boy named Link. After exhausting the Catalia's rolling hills of adventure, he left for the wet, rocky kingdom of Hyrule. Calatia's Hero save Hyrule from the returning threat of Ganon, reunited the land's Triforce of Wisdom, and became Royal Protector to the ruling family.

GREAT SEA

Inhabitants: Goron, Hylian, Korok, Rito

The Great Sea is the kingdom of Hyrule after it was buried by the Gods. Because of the downpour, the inhabitants of Hyrule made their way to the highest points of the land, such as Death Mountain, to survive.

Over hundreds of years, the Zora evolved into the Rito because of the disappearance of freshwater. The Kokiri evolved into the deformed Korok when they temporarily lived without the protection of the Great Deku Tree. The Goron tribe was smashed and scattered across the sea.

When the Great Sea subsided, it left a very altered Hyrulian landscape.

HOLODRUM

Inhabitants: Goron, Hyrulian, Zora

Holodrum is composed of dense forests, grassy knolls and intricate waterways. To the south, a sandy coastline, and to the north, a rocky mountain range. Holodrum is inhabited by Hyrulians, Gorons, and Zora, but it also has portals to a mysterious land called Subrosia, home to the Subrosians.

The Hero was once sent to Holodrum by the Triforce, to save Din, the Oracle of Seasons. Her capture by General Onox led to imbalances in the country's climate, upsetting the flow of seasons. The real danger was a bigger plot by witches Twinrova, who were conspiring to resurrect the Evil King Ganon.

HYRULE

Inhabitants: Gerudo, Goron, Hylian, Hyrulian, Sheikah, Zora

Pre-Great Flood

Post-Great Flood

New Hyrule

Hyrule is at the heart of the world. While surrounded by many beautiful lands, Hyrule is the homeland of the three forever tied by destiny, forever fighting over the key to the fate of the world; the Triforce. Ganon, warped by bitterness and hatred, relentlessly focuses his power on gaining the Triforce of Wisdom and Courage, possessed by the bloodlines of Princess Zelda and the Hero, Link.

This power struggle has changed the face of Hyrule over thousands of years. Whole races have been annihilated or created because of this war. When the first Hero and the Seven Sages banished Ganondorf to the Sacred Realm, many thought that Hyrule would be that way forever, but when Link left the land, the Evil King returned. The Gods, left with no other choice, flooded Hyrule, turning it into the Great Sea.

When the seas subsided, Hyrule was left fractured and worn. Hyrulians, Goron, Zora and Rito had all migrated to Holodrum and Labrynna, leaving Hylians to resurrect the great kingdom once again. At first, the legends lived on; Hyrule Castle was rebuilt, and a village was named Kakariko in honour of lives lost. Years passed and Ganon returned again, and again, and again. The relentless warring chipped away at Hyrule and as people migrated away from the trouble, old Hyrule began to die; Kakariko became a graveyard and the Castle collapsed into an evil cavern. New towns were built, named after the Seven who originally cast down Evil, and a new Hyrule began to form in the north.

This new age flourished under King Harkinian, a kind-hearted ruler who had no idea that in old, abandoned southwest Hyrule, Evil was stirring, gaining its forces and power, poised to unleash it over the prosperous lands. Before hope was lost, a random traveller carrying the mark of the Triforce appeared from the western mountains. The new Hero, Link, cast down Ganon and combined the bloodlines of Courage and Wisdom, safeguarding Hyrule's future forever.

KOHOLINT ISLAND

Inhabitants: Hylian, Hyrulian

Koholint Island is unique, because it doesn't exist outside of Link's dreams. While returning to Hyrule from Holodrum, Link's boat was destroyed, leaving him slumped over a piece of driftwood. His dream incorporated elements of his past adventures, like Zelda, who was recreated as Marin, a girl who bore a striking resemblance to one he met in Labrynna named Malon. To wake himself, he had to wake the metaphorical Wind Fish, an entity that was guarded by representations of Link's demons and past traumas, nightmares of Ganon and Agahnim.

LABRYNNA

Inhabitants: Goron, Hyrulian, Tokay, Zora

When Hyrule had been saved from the imminent threat of Ganon and the Triforce had been reunited, Link was sent on a mission to Labrynna to save Nayru, the Oracle of Ages. A witch named Veran had captured her, using her power to change things in the past.

The land is home to Zora and Tokay tribes, and is partially covered by freshwater seas. While these seas have subsided over time, new rivers have began to flow through the Nuun Highlands and Lynna City.

TERMINA

Inhabitants: Gerudo, Goron, Hylian, Hyrulian, Deku, Zora

Termina is in an alternative dimension to the Hyrulian world, and mirrors many elements of Pre-Flood Hyrule. In the centre of the land is Clock Town, home to Hylians, and in the directions of North, South, East and West live Gorons, Deku, Gerudo and Zora.

The first Hero of Hyrule ends up in Termina after chasing the thief of his horse Epona. When he gets there, he finds out that the world is about to end at the hands of this thief, who's summoned the moon to crash into the land.

TWILIGHT REALM

Inhabitants: Twili

The Twilight Realm is the rift between Hyrule and its shadow Sacred Realm. It was created by the Gods to contain Hylians who were abusing their gift of magic in order to obtain the Triforce from the Sacred Realm, trapping them in limbo. The banished Hylians evolved over the years into the twisted Twili. Ganondorf used the plight of the Twili inhabitants to make the transition from his Sacred Realm prison back to Hyrule, causing a leak of the Twilight over the land of light.

SACRED REALM

The Sacred Realm is a magical place governed by the Triforce. It's malleable enough to act as a white void or a material, tactile land - when Link first banishes Ganondorf to the Realm, it is an empty prison. However, Ganondorf managed to break free of this prison and wreck havoc over Hyrule, forcing the Gods to flood the land, banishing him back.

Somehow, the Evil King touched the Triforce, and wished for Hyrule. His wish was granted, but the Triforce created a dark, twisted version of Hyrule in the Sacred Realm instead, and Link had to risk eternal imprisonment to revert it back to a void prison for Ganon.

SUBROSIA

Inhabitants: Subrosian

Subrosia is a volcanic wasteland, home to a peculiar race called the Subrosians. They're a very peaceful race, and have links to the surface world of Holodrum via magical portals. Subrosia is home to a very valuable ore, prompting miners to seek out these portals in a bid to get rich.

The land is so hot and inhospitable that Subrosians live there in isolation.
