Release Dates

14th November 2003

The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition is a four game, limited edition disk for Nintendo GameCube. Games featured on the disk are emulated versions of:

  • The Legend of Zelda (NES)

  • The Adventure of Link (NES)

  • Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64)

  • Majora's Mask (Nintendo 64)

It also contains a fully playable demo of the first twenty minutes of The Wind Waker, and a movie showing highlights of the game. It also has a short retrospective of past Zelda games, though it's a little limited in scope.

The disk made its debut in Europe over the Christmas 2003 season, as part of a Mario Kart/GameCube bundle which retailed for £99. It was also available on the Nintendo VIP Stars Catalogue for 4500 star points. Days later, it was released in North America. It was obtained either by subscribing to Nintendo Power, buying a GameCube for $99, or registering two Nintendo-published games with My Nintendo. The disk wasn't released in Japan until 2004, where it was available over the Club Nintendo website for 500 points.

  Europe - United Kingdom
This is an email flyer that Nintendo of Europe sent to everyone on their mail list in November 2003. Despite some awkward wording, the design's of a high quality.

I love the part where it tells you to start saving those stars - the flyer was sent out two weeks before the December 1st launch of the disc. And with 250 stars given out with each game...

These two banners were put in the Featured banner rotation on the Nintendo of Europe homepage, and both linked to their respective news pages.

  North America
This image was put on the Nintendo of America homepage to promote the various ways Americans could get the disc. However, there were a couple of mistakes, most notably the spelling of The Wind Waker, and the date of November 2004. These were both rectified in a later version of the page.
