American Wrestler’s Costume Pays Tribute To Zelda

Sunday 8th June

Pro WWE wrestler Cody Rhodes draws his inspiration from an unexpected source - Zelda. He claims, in the official WWE magazine that he tries to apply the three qualities represented by the Triforce - power, wisdom and courage - in his life, and has the well-known Triforce symbol on the boots of his costume. He also says he tries to play the SNES classic “Link to the Past” annually. I can’t really call myself a wrestling fan, but I think it’s quite cool that Zelda references are sneaking into the public eye…
What?

“It’s the Tri-Force from The Legend of Zelda,” Rhodes confirmed. “You know how some people have a book they re-read every year? Well I re-play The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for Super Nintendo every year. In the game, the Tri-Force symbolized power, wisdom and courage. I thought I could apply those qualities to my life.”

Triforceism - the new Jediism? let’s hope not. Click here for a decent-sized picture of the boots.

Zelda Parodied on Robot Chicken

Sunday 9th September

The Legend of Zelda has been parodied on this week’s Robot Chicken. The jokes are of a highly adult nature (Link refers to his right hand as “Princess”) so you can find more details and a link to the full episode on our Cameos page.

Zelda Microgames in Smooth Moves

Thursday 30th November

A fresh batch of Wario Ware Smooth Move videos have been posted at YouTube.

This first one is incredible, showing some of the games in the traditional “Nintendo” selection, with one where you control Link as he takes the Master Sword out of its pedestal in Ocarina of Time. Even more impressive is the Boss Stage - a new level using the Starwing engine, with a end-baddie who’ll bring a fat smile to your face.

There are three other videos to check out if you’re interested on how the game’s shaping up.

Twilight Princess Item in Animal Crossing

Monday 6th November

GoNintendo are reporting that the latest Nintendo Power magazine tells readers to “connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection [with Animal Crossing Wild World] during the week of November 17th,” as villagers and forest people alike will be receive a letter with a special commemorative item to celebrate the launch of Twilight Princess. I didn’t know anyone was still playing, but it will be worth logging in to see what the item is. Possibly the Hylian Shield?
