A slightly misleading title, but awesome all the same. IGN Wii have posted hands-on impressions of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and confirmed that one of Link’s alternative costumes is Dark Link from Twilight Princess. We can only summise (and pray) that the other two are the Zora and Magical Armours.
Thankfully, the game sounds spectacular, though Meta Knight seems a little overpowered. It has been delayed, in true Nintendo style, until February next year in America, but that’s the price we pay for perfection, right? It will give us all time to soak in the perfection that is Phantom Hourglass and Super Mario Galaxy, after all.

A few days ago (Sorry for the delay, I started uni recently), Nintendo unveiled the trophies section of Smash Bros Brawl. Wind Waker fans will be pleased to know that one of the trophies included in the screenshots was a Wind Waker-style Tingle.

Well, yes, I know no-one likes Tingle, but this trophy does hint that there may be more Wind Waker content in Brawl, such as characters or levels. Or it may mean nothing at all, as there were plenty Trophies in the previous Smash Bros that featured as nothing more than that, trophies. However, it’s interesting speculation, and Wind Waker fans are bound to be pleased at the inclusion of these trophies, as there is sure to be more.
As a bonus, another Zelda-style trophy was shown in the screenshots - the incredibly scary alien-like Ooccoo from Twilight Princess.

Remember, Phantom Hourglass comes out in America tomorrow!

Today’s update of the popular ”Smash Bros: DOJO!!”, the official hype-site for the upcoming Super Smash Bros: Brawl introduced the “My Music” feature, where players can edit the likelyhood that their favourite, or least favourite track will play on different stages. What does this have to do with Zelda? The update’s accomanying picture provided an interesting Zelda tidbit.

So, we now know that there will be at least four Zelda tracks in SSB:B. The down arrow at the bottom right implies that there could be more! Extra tracks are unlocked by picking up CDs in-game, so this is very possible. The titles of these tracks may also be hinting at currently unannounced Zelda-themed stages in the game. A Dark World stage could be very interesting, though personally I’m still hoping for a Wind Waker-style level. Be sure to take this as pure speculation. Remember, Saria’s Song played in the Termina Bay stage in the last Smash Brothers, a theme and location which are games apart!

The Smash Bros. Dojo has updated with details on the first Zelda stage of the game. I say ‘first,’ because the flatland of Eldin Bridge hardly makes for frantic smash mayhem, so I’m holding out for more. Still, they’ve managed to spice proceedings up with King Bulbin and randomly collapsing bridge segments. I hope my scepticism is proven unfounded.

The Smash Bros. DOJO!! has been updated with a jaw-dropping Ocarina of Time medley that will be used in one of the game’s stages. You know that any BG music that incorporates Song of Storms and makes the Lost Woods music sound so epic is going to be legendary. The announcement of this composition also allows us to make an educated guess that the Zelda-themed stage will be based on a locale(s) from the Greatest Game of All-Time rather than Twilight Princess.

The official Super Smash Bros. Brawl website has announced the first new character in the game since its E3 unveiling last year. While few details are given, we are treated to Zelda’s brand new look. She looks even better than in Twilight Princess. No word on whether she has retained the ability to transform into Sheik, though with the memory of Ocarina of Time becoming just that after ten years, it would seem unlikely. To make up for this, here’s a picture of Zelda and Zero Suit Samus in a cat fight:

Super Smash Bros. - Characters
I found the perpetrator! I found the heathen who ratted me out to the Captors! Because I have no camera, I improvised and slammed the awful traitor into the scanner so that the whole world will know who betrayed me in the middle of what can only be considered a war. Look at him! Just look at him!

How did he live undetected for so many days while harbouring such an obvious secret! I don’t know if Spud was a willing recipient of this camera implant, or if the Mysterious Captors forced it into him, but I guess I’ll never know now that Spud’s gone to potato heaven. Round these parts we call it “Potato Stew”, but the end results the same. Anyway, since witnessing the slaughter, Tater’s been cowering in the corner despite my best efforts to calm him down. He’ll be fine, providing he tells me everything he knows about the Captors…
Ah but of course, the update. I decided that it was time I fleshed out the Smash Bros. pages, so I started with this lovely character page. In other exciting news, we’ve gained a new affiliate, the textually triumphant Desert Colossus. When you visit them (and you will visit them, lest you end up like Spud…), check out their excellent Compendium section, because it’s full of interesting observations that you can fill your brain with. I know I’ve filled mine!
